Is VeraCrypt still the free, go-to encryption option for OS X? Curious if anyone has any other suggestions...

Use FileVault it has same cryptography

Yes, Veracrypt still works fine with Macs.I use the regular ol' Filevault for FDE, but what I like about Veracrypt is creating encrypted containers. I know that you can do this too with Macs, create encrypted disk images. But if you work with different operating systems or otherwise need portable containers Veracrypt is the way to go.

i would suggest using FILE VAULT .... other wise just do what u want !!
